CCNA from zero: computer network fundamentals
What you need to start
A browser is enough for the first module: no equipment, simulator or command knowledge is required. From lesson 19 we work in the free Cisco Packet Tracer and from lesson 38 in Wireshark; every program and every command is explained before it is used.
How you will learn
First examine a problem and define the new words, then study two examples and a diagram. Predict the result, follow the path manually or step by step, explain what you observe, change one condition and solve an independent task. Animations have steps, play, pause and reset; the explanation remains available without movement.
The golden rule
Examples and exercises use only concepts explained in the current or an earlier lesson. The first lessons therefore contain no unexplained IP addresses, commands, routing tables or protocols. A new concept appears when it is needed to solve a clear problem.
What you can do after the first module
Explain what a network consists of, client and server roles, and the difference between copper, fiber and radio, and between a hub, a switch, a router and an access point; calculate file transfer time; read physical and logical diagrams and find a single point of failure. The module project is a network for an office with 12 workplaces: ports, cables, a diagram and a backup link.
How the course will develop
The plan continues with 14 more sections: models and Ethernet, the switch and Cisco IOS, IPv4 and subnetting, TCP/UDP, DNS and DHCP, VLANs and inter-VLAN routing, STP and EtherChannel, static routing and OSPF, IPv6, ACLs, NAT and network services, Wi-Fi, security, architectures and the cloud, automation and AI, troubleshooting and the capstone project. New modules open as they are completed.
Alignment with Cisco
The course covers every objective of the CCNA 200-301 exam in both versions: the current v1.1 and the updated v2.0, in effect from February 3, 2027 (OSPFv3, SCP/SFTP, storm control, RA Guard, AI in network operations). The differences are covered in a dedicated lesson before the capstone project.
